    Introduction

TP321 is a titanium (Ti)-stabilized austenitic stainless steel, an improved variant of the 18-8 stainless steel (Cr-Ni series). The addition of titanium (Ti) effectively suppresses the precipitation of chromium carbides (Cr₂₃C₆) at grain boundaries, significantly enhancing the material's resistance to intergranular corrosion, making it ideal for high-temperature and sensitization-prone environments.

    Key Features

    Titanium Stabilization

Contains titanium (Ti ≥ 5×C) to prevent chromium carbide (Cr₂₃C₆) formation at grain boundaries. Eliminates sensitization risk during welding or exposure to 450–850°C, ensuring resistance to intergranular corrosion.

    High-Temperature Performance

Operating range: -196°C to 800°C (short-term up to 900°C). Oxidation resistance: Stable in air, steam, and oxidizing atmospheres.

    Corrosion Resistance

Superior to 304/304L in chloride stress corrosion cracking and weak acid environments (e.g., nitric/organic acids). Resists alkalis and sensitization-induced degradation.

    Fabrication Advantages

Weldability: Excellent; no post-weld heat treatment required. Cold working: Requires intermediate annealing to mitigate work hardening.

    Cost-Effective Alternative

More economical than TP316 (no molybdenum) while offering better high-temperature stability than TP304.
