Introduction
Key Features
Contains titanium (Ti ≥ 5×C) to prevent chromium carbide (Cr₂₃C₆) formation at grain boundaries. Eliminates sensitization risk during welding or exposure to 450–850°C, ensuring resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Operating range: -196°C to 800°C (short-term up to 900°C). Oxidation resistance: Stable in air, steam, and oxidizing atmospheres.
Superior to 304/304L in chloride stress corrosion cracking and weak acid environments (e.g., nitric/organic acids). Resists alkalis and sensitization-induced degradation.
Weldability: Excellent; no post-weld heat treatment required. Cold working: Requires intermediate annealing to mitigate work hardening.
More economical than TP316 (no molybdenum) while offering better high-temperature stability than TP304.

TP321 is a titanium (Ti)-stabilized austenitic stainless steel. It is an improved variant of the standard 18-8 series (Cr-Ni series) designed to offer superior resistance to intergranular corrosion.
The addition of titanium (Ti ≥ 5×C) effectively prevents the precipitation of chromium carbides (Cr₂₃C₆) at the grain boundaries. This eliminates the risk of sensitization during welding or when exposed to high temperatures ranging from 450°C to 850°C.
TP321 operates efficiently in temperatures ranging from -196°C to 800°C, and can withstand short-term exposure up to 900°C with stable oxidation resistance in air, steam, and oxidizing atmospheres.
No, TP321 possesses excellent weldability, and post-weld heat treatment is generally not required to maintain its corrosion resistance.
It is widely used in aerospace, electronics, instrumentation and control systems, power generation (thermal power plants), petrochemical and refining, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, and dairy equipment.
Equivalent grades include UNS S32100 (USA), JIS G4304 (Japan), 1.4541 / X10CrNiTi18-9 (Germany/EN), 06Cr18Ni11Ti / S32168 (China), X6CrNiTi18-10 (ISO), and 12Х18Н10Т (Russia).
